2024 ELIGIBILITY RULES FOR AAU BASKETBALL

 For the Sept 1, 2023 – Aug. 31, 2024, AAU Basketball season.

Eligibility

Florida All-Stars follows the AAU Basketball eligibility rules below regarding age and grade-based teams.  Homeschooled players must have current documents from the State showing they are permitted to be homeschooled. Homeschool players’ eligibility is based upon age ONLY.  A player may play up in an older age/grade division meaning a 9th grader can play up in the 10th grade division or higher, but the same 9th grader cannot play down in the 8th grade division.  If an athlete is in any grade above what is normal and customary for their age, an athlete may play down provided they meet the established criteria listed below.

8U/2ND GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 2nd grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 9 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 3rd grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 8 on or before August 31, 2024.

9U/3RD GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 3rd grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 10 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 4th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 9 on or before August 31, 2024.

10U/4TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 4th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 11 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 10 on or before August 31, 2024.

11U/5TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 12 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 11 on or before August 31, 2024.

12U/6TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 13 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 7th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 12 on or before August 31, 2024.

13U/7TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 7th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 14 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 8th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 13 on or before August 31, 2024.

14U/8TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 8th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 15 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 9th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 14 on or before August 31, 2024.

15U/9TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 9th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 16 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 10th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 15 on or before August 31, 2024.

16U/10TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 10th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 17 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 11th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 16 on or before August 31,
2024.

17U/11TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 11th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 18 on or before August 31, 2024. For an athlete that is in the 12th grade as of October 1, 2023, wanting to play down, they can be no older than 17 on or before August 31,
2024.

19U/12TH GRADE DIVISION
An athlete must be in the 12th grade as of October 1, 2023, and can be no older than 19 on or before August 31, 2024.

 ROSTER RULES
Players must show proof of age (copy of birth certificate or another state issued photo ID) and proof of current grade (current school issued report card or progress report). Teams must always have this paperwork with them during a tournament. Post Grad (Prep School) players are not allowed. Transgender players review our Transgender Policy.  To be eligible to play in all games, players must be on the roster submitted for the individual tournaments. Coaches may change their roster throughout the entire season but must have a current roster and all paperwork for each player at each tournament.
